Transnational cooperation
This is a key-task of MEFISTO project, and a challenge for all the stakeholders involved in forest fire fighting. The general objective is the development of a well-structured Mediterranean network with competence in organising and managing transnational cooperation against forest fires.
This objective will be reached through the implementation of different items:
- The foundation of an international organisation/association that will act as European reference for standardisation and skills evaluation in forest fires, possibly connected with the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC)
- The definition of rights and duties between Countries aimed at efficient cross-border collaborations
- Simulation of cross-border collaboration.
Each deliverable obtained by this task should allow the enlargement of this approach at European level after the end of the project.
