The Sintra (Portugal) headquarters of the ENB (Escola Nacional de Bombeiros), member entity of the MEFISTO project, hosted a meeting of partners of this European initiative last 9 and 10 November, aimed at improving the European collaboration and coordination capacity in the fight against forest fires .
The meeting was attended by representatives of all partners of the consortium, as well as the Center for the Defense of Fire (CDF) of the Junta de Castilla y León.
The meeting served to consolidate the work already done since the beginning of the year on each of the tasks and activities, as well as to define the objectives for the coming months. The most important points to highlight were:
- General description of the actual implementation of MEFISTO
- UNIFI showed the progress in the development of document D_B.2 " Guidelines redaction: Similarities and differences between EU Mediterranean Countries in Forest Fire Fighting: a challenge for improvement".
- Discussion about the “Forest Fires multilingual Glossary”: doubts and proposals for its implementation and improvement.
- Foundation of the “European FORest FIRE fighting council – EUFORFIRE”.
- Presentation of the progress of all tasks by responsible partners
- Review and verification of the timetable of the actions of the next months.
